Roy Williams

JLHS Class of 1998

Roy Williams (James Logan High School Class of 1998) is one of the most accomplished athletes ever to graduate from New Haven Unified schools. A standout football player at James Logan, Roy continued his career at the University of Oklahoma, where he helped lead the Sooners to a national championship and became one of the most decorated defensive players in college football. His achievements included unanimous All-American honors, the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Jim Thorpe Award, and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year recognition.

Selected eighth overall in the 2002 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, Roy enjoyed a nine-year NFL career and earned five consecutive Pro Bowl selections. In 2022, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, recognizing his extraordinary impact on the game at the collegiate level. Roy has also been inducted into the James Logan High School Hall of Fame, the California High School Football Hall of Fame, the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame, and the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame. Today, he remains active in business and community service while serving as an inspiration to future generations of James Logan students.
